Liverpool: Carragher's strange anecdote about Arne Slot

During a discussion about Liverpool 's European ambitions on Sky Sports , Jamie Carragher recounted a memorable moment from last summer: while on a family holiday, Arne Slot introduced him to his wife and children as a "Champions League winner ." This phrase struck a chord with the former Reds legend: "I almost felt like he was suggesting that was his next step; I could feel it in the way he said it. We won the Premier League , but now we want the Champions League, and that stuck with me. You can tell he wants it."

Carragher also highlighted Slot's particular fondness for the European stage, and especially for PSG, who eliminated Liverpool last season before going on to win the competition. "I think Slot has a bit of an obsession with the Champions League , " he explained. "He talked a lot about PSG last season, after losing to them. He talks about it so well that he almost admired that defeat and the fact that they won. And the way they won it, the way they played the final, I think he loves coaches whose teams play like that." In short, after a 2024-2025 season marked by a Premier League title, Slot's next goal is European football.
