The transition between 2025 and 2026 is not going smoothly at Chelsea . Enzo Maresca has fallen victim to the team's recent poor results (just one win in their last seven Premier League matches) and his disagreements with the board. The differences had become too great to keep him in his position. It seems highly likely that Liam Rosenior will replace him in the coming days. Rosenior has not confirmed this, but his comments in yesterday's press conference leave little room for doubt .
“ We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. I’m just doing my job. I don’t want to guarantee how long I’ll be here, but I enjoy myself here every day, ” asserted the man who took over Racing in the summer of 2024. He will therefore be rewarded for his good results and should, in a way, be promoted within BlueCo, the owner of the Alsatian and London club. This second position is, of course, more prestigious, and from the management’s perspective, RCSA is seen more as a branch, or at best, a stepping stone.
Anger among supporters is rising
Chelsea co-owner Beghdad Eghbali and his team aren't particularly concerned about Strasbourg's fate. "They couldn't care less , " a source told L'Équipe on Friday. Chelsea's management is also a hot topic in England. Fans are growing tired of their club's reckless spending during transfer windows and are questioning the true vision of the club's future. The "Not Project CFC" group has even made demands of the club's leadership, as reported by the Daily Mail .
This group writes that the Blues are "run less like an elite club than a player transfer factory focused on staff turnover, speculation, and long-term potential at the expense of immediate competitiveness ." It also accuses the owners of BlueCo, who have spent over £1 billion since taking control in 2022, of "prioritizing long-term potential over the present ." A protest is even planned, the last one having taken place last February. In the meantime, Calum McFarlane, the usual U21 coach, will be on the bench against Manchester City this Sunday.
