Olivier Giroud has a proposal for the 2026 World Cup

Having retired from international football since the end of Euro 2024, Olivier Giroud received a glowing tribute at the Stade de France last March, just before the Nations League quarter-final second leg between France and Croatia. Since then, and especially after his successful debut with LOSC, the 39-year-old veteran continues to be regularly questioned about a possible return to Les Bleus. In a lengthy interview with the daily newspaper L'Équipe, the former Arsenal and AC Milan striker revealed, however, that he could indeed participate in the 2026 World Cup... but as a consultant, not as a player.

"I dabble in a few things, I have my investments in funds, notably Blaise's (Matuidi), others in real estate, but in terms of activity, obviously I would like to stay in football, always with this aim of passing on knowledge. Maybe a little TV as a consultant at the beginning, to stay in the circuit. I had been approached by an English channel for the 2022 World Cup, when I was no longer selected. But I told them: "Wait, I still hope to play it. (Laughs.)" Now, French media have approached me for 2026 ," he revealed.
