Club World Cup: Flamengo beats Chelsea and qualifies for the round of 16

Having easily defeated Los Angeles on Matchday 1, Chelsea were expected to confirm their form on Matchday 2 of the Club World Cup. But in Philadelphia, the Blues faced a valiant Brazilian side, Flamengo , which featured Danilo, former Marseille player Gerson, and Jorginho. London's strongman, Pedro Neto, quickly gave Chelsea the lead (1-0, 13th minute), but they were unable to make the difference to put themselves ahead before halftime.

For their part, the Brazilians were becoming increasingly dangerous. After the break, Mengão managed to equalize on a confused move finished by Bruno Henrique, who had just come on as a substitute (1-1, 61st). And three minutes later, Bruno Henrique deflected a corner that Danilo could have taken to give Flamengo the lead. Chelsea then cracked with Jackson's stupid sending off (68th) and conceded the second-half goal through Wallace Yan (3-1, 85th). With great control in the second half, the Rio de Janeiro team thus secured a prestigious victory and, above all, qualification for the round of 16. For its part, second-placed Chelsea will have to secure its qualification against Espérance de Tunis.
