Liverpool: Things are starting to get tense for Arne Slot

Liverpool are starting to cause concern. Despite having been in great form since the start of the season and leading the Premier League with five wins in five matches, in addition to a successful first Champions League match against Atlético de Madrid (3-2), Arne Slot's team has suffered a serious setback since the end of September. After a first defeat suffered in the final minutes at Crystal Palace, the Reds missed their match on the pitch at Galatasaray on the second day of the Champions League.

But the bad run worsened this Saturday with another defeat against Chelsea, leaving the club with three consecutive defeats in a row . This logically caused them to lose their throne as leader of the English Championship to Arsenal. Is it the status of Premier League Champion that is difficult for Liverpool to assume ? Or is it a XXL recruitment that is not bearing fruit? Speaking to the BBC , striker Cody Gakpo admitted that he is currently in poor form, but refuses to talk about a lack of confidence.

Arne Slot doesn't want to worry

"I don't want to say that we lack confidence. Right now, things are not going our way. Five games ago, they might have been going our way. That's part of football. We have to accept it and keep fighting. When you play for such an important club, it's normal that three defeats in a row aren't considered enough. As players, we are very aware of the situation. We know what we have to do, which is to get back to winning ways ," he said.

And while he doesn't want to worry, Arne Slot acknowledges a problem with offensive efficiency. "We were the dominant team, but in the last ten to fifteen minutes, it was a constant back-and-forth, both teams could have scored. Both attacks often arrived in the opponent's box. At the moment, these small details are not working in our favor ," explains the Dutchman, who defended himself on the Reds' form: "First, you have to look at the opponents we face. As I said after Galatasaray, we have a one-on-one that we miss, then they get a penalty. We concede against Palace in added time, and today again, they score a goal that could have gone either way."
