Paris Saint-Germain are looking to continue their success. Having beaten Atalanta Bergamo 4-0 in their opening match, the capital club is now preparing to take on FC Barcelona at Montjuïc. For this second matchday of the Champions League, Luis Enrique and his staff will have to do without several key players. Already without Ousmane Dembélé (right hamstring), Marquinhos (left quadriceps), and Désiré Doué, who is still rehabilitating his calf injury, the Parisian coach will therefore have to innovate, particularly in the attacking sector.
Imperial since his arrival in Paris - if we forget that failed outing at the Orange Vélodrome - Lucas Chevalier is logically expected in the Parisian goal. To protect the former Lille goalkeeper, Luis Enrique should opt for a near-standard defense with Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho, Illia Zabarnyi, scorer against Auxerre and announced successor to Marquinhos, but also Nuno Mendes, brilliant against the Dea. However, some uncertainty reigns in midfield...
Mayulu up front, Neves and Vitinha back?
Substituted in the 36th minute against AJA, Vitinha is not yet fully assured of being able to keep his place. While Luis Enrique has indicated that it is not a serious injury, but rather a precaution to preserve the player before the Champions League match, the Portuguese will still have to wait for the final tests to be carried out this Monday. At this stage, Le Parisien specifies, for its part, that the news is not really alarming and that the 25-year-old nugget should be able to start this clash.
Alongside him, Fabián Ruiz, who was rested against Auxerre, and João Neves, who recently suffered a left hamstring injury, are also expected to make the starting lineup. Their participation will, however, depend on the load they can handle over the next two training sessions. In the event of physical problems, Warren Zaïre-Emery or Kang-In Lee could be credible options. Finally, while the Parisian midfield is not yet fully operational, the biggest questions remain about the attack.
Already suffering from a calf injury before the match against Atalanta, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this time felt pain in the back of his left thigh and was replaced at half-time by Barcola. More than ever doubtful for the trip to Barcelona, the Georgian could thus make way for the former OL star. To accompany him, Senny Mayulu could be preferred to Gonçalo Ramos to occupy the striker while Kang-in Lee - or a repositioning of the full-backs like Nuno Mendes - are alternatives considered to feed the left flank of the Parisian attack.
