FC Barcelona: Deco prepares a new surprise move in the transfer window

FC Barcelona has once again experienced an intense summer transfer window , and Deco has spared no effort in preparing for Hansi Flick's second season on the bench. In terms of new signings, the Blaugrana club has already secured the signings of goalkeeper Joan García, English striker Marcus Rashford, and young Swedish talent Roony Bardghji, a promising prospect for the attacking wing. There has also been significant movement in the departures department, with the sales of Álex Valle, Pau Víctor, Clément Lenglet, and Ansu Fati, reducing the wage bill and generating cash to strengthen the squad. In the background, the club also had to deal with the delicate situation of Marc-André ter Stegen, whose injury and contract management have weighed on the sporting and financial planning of the summer.

According to the Catalan daily Sport , FC Barcelona considers its squad to be practically complete with more than two weeks to go until the transfer window closes, although a last-minute move is not ruled out. Hansi Flick, despite the departure of Íñigo Martínez, believes he has replacements in all positions, but is mindful that the season will be long and that the defensive sector could suffer. The German coach is due to meet with sporting director Deco soon to assess the available options, both sporting and financial. The club is particularly keen not to lose any more players, which would severely limit its room for maneuver, and is focusing its search on a defender under 23 years of age with strong potential for progression.

Deco wants to sniff out a good deal

Sport points out that Deco has once again had to deal with the complexity of La Liga registrations and does not yet know if he will be able to register all the players before August 31. The top priority is to assign a number to Joan García, who is expected to start on Matchday 1, and then finalize the registrations of Wojciech Szczęsny and Marcus Rashford. The club is confident of integrating these two reinforcements, the former benefiting from Ter Stegen's injury and the latter thanks to funds already raised. After that, it will still be necessary to validate the integration of Gerard Martín and Marc Bernal into the first team, in accordance with their contracts, while Bardghji is expected to remain a player for the reserve team until January.

The sporting board has received several offers in recent days from top-level defenders from clubs with surplus players in this position, including on loan. However, Barcelona does not plan to sign a proven international player, unless there is an exceptional opportunity at almost no cost, which is not currently the case. The preferred option remains that of a young player to be signed for a reasonable fee, capable of playing with both the reserve team and the first team, thus facilitating his registration. Flick, who has lost his most experienced defender, will give his final approval, but the club will undoubtedly wait until the end of the second La Liga matchday and the evolution of the squad's health before making a decision.
