Real Madrid: First disagreements between Xabi Alonso and Florentino Pérez

Does Real Madrid still need to recruit? Two opposing schools of thought exist in the capital, dividing public opinion in Madrid. Some believe the squad isn't yet competitive enough to challenge for every title next season, while others believe Xabi Alonso already has a squad of sufficient quality to go all the way in La Liga and the Champions League, in particular. And clearly, Xabi Alonso is more of a supporter of this first theory.

Florentino Pérez, on the other hand, is more in line with the latter. According to various Iberian media, the boss of the Spanish capital club no longer wants to put his hand in his pocket and there is only one scenario in which he would agree to open the checkbook: if Rodri (Manchester City) were to become available this summer. Which remains rather unlikely at the moment... Suffice to say that, barring a reversal of fortune, Pérez believes Carreras will be his club's fourth and final summer signing.

Alonso proposes 3 names but

Sport reveals a little more and even makes some rather juicy revelations. We learn that Xabi Alonso does not want to find himself in Ancelotti's situation and that he wants to have decision-making power. The Basque player is clearly demanding the arrival of a new midfielder, and he wouldn't turn down a central defender. He even suggested three names to his management for the midfield position - Nicolo Barella (Inter), Angelo Stiller (Stuttgart), and Kees Smit (AZ Alkmaar) - but the Madrid decision-makers said no.

The management believes that the €182 million spent on Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras is more than enough. Meanwhile, Cadena SER discusses the central defender issue and confirms that the club's goal is to wait until 2026 for Ibrahima Konaté, a player who wants to leave the Reds and would like to join Madrid, as revealed exclusively by us . There should be no reinforcements in defense either, unless Konaté is available at a bargain price. Xabi Alonso therefore knows what to expect.
