All of Liverpool has been in shock since Thursday morning's news of Diogo Jota 's death . The Portuguese winger was killed in a car crash with his brother while they were driving on a Spanish road last night. Tributes are pouring in from around the football world as the Reds prepare for a ceremony and try to make their contribution. A statement announced tonight that the number 20 will be immortalized.

" The number 20 will be immortalised for his contributions as a member of the Liverpool team that won the 2024/25 title - the club's 20th - thanks to his trademark dribbling and shot in front of the Kop to seal victory in the Merseyside derby in April, " the club wrote. It was the last goal scored by the player who died at the age of 28.
