Real Madrid is one of the big players in the transfer window. The Merengues have already signed Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who were already under Xabi Alonso's command during the 2025 Club World Cup , and Franco Mastantuono will arrive in mid-August. It's clearly not over, as the decision-makers at the Spanish capital club and their coach are still waiting for more players. A left-back in particular, with Alvaro Carreras (Benfica) still the favorite, as well as a midfielder and a possible number 9.
On the other hand, things are not really moving forward in terms of departures. The few players who were deemed undesirable have not left, and this is partly because they want to convince Alonso to give them a place in the team. Just like the Basque tactician, author of a major revolution in Madrid (or rather in the USA for the moment) , wants to see everyone at work before making decisions. Elements like Fran Garcia could thus ultimately stay. There is one who seems doomed, however.
He no longer has his place
It's David Alaba . As AS reports , the player who hasn't played since April and has relapsed again is, today, the only player in the team who is not at all in the management's plans and who has no chance of reversing the trend. He is clearly on the market, with Real Madrid wanting to get rid of his colossal salary of 12.5 million euros net, which also makes a departure quite complicated despite the good rating that the Austrian international maintains.
It must be said that if he stays, he will have practically no playing time. Currently, he is considered the fifth central defender in the hierarchy behind Rüdiger, Militao, Huijsen and Asencio, and Real Madrid is also counting heavily on the young Joan Martinez. The ball is therefore in the player's court, who will have to choose between staying in Madrid without playing and leaving for free in 2026 at the end of his contract, or packing his bags now and surely having to make some financial sacrifices.
