Ansu Fati's destiny seemed written in stone at the start of the transfer window. At 22, the Spanish striker no longer has a future at FC Barcelona . Hansi Flick is absolutely not counting on him and the Blaugranas have clearly shown him the exit door, two years from the end of his contract. Very quickly, AS Monaco positioned itself to welcome the Catalan. The latter agreed to land on the Rock and the Asémistes hoped to conclude the deal by negotiating a loan with a partial payment of the salary.
Since then, nothing has changed. And for Barça, it's a big problem. Like every summer, the Blaugranas need cash, but this year, this need is vital. Indeed, Barça wants to finally complete the transfer of Nico Williams. An operation that will cost the Culés €62 million, namely the €58 million release clause + €4 million in taxes. Problem: the amount of the deal forces Barça to sell several players , including some valued players, and Athletic makes things even more difficult by demanding to be paid in one go (which has become very rare in the world of football).
Barça doesn't make anything easy
As you can see, FC Barcelona must sell, and not just a little. But in the Fati case, things are getting complicated. No sale is on the horizon, and interested teams (like Monaco) only want to take a portion of the impressive salary of a player who is one of the five highest-paid players (between €13 and €15 million annually) in the Barcelona squad. Except that the Blaugrana need to free up some wages and therefore don't want to hear about this solution.
And according to AS , this file is getting dangerously bogged down. Ideally, if a transfer cannot be concluded, the Catalans would agree to loan their player to a team paying his full salary. The goal is to keep Ansu Fati and be able to reclaim him in case he finally manages to blossom. A scenario that obviously does not suit the Spanish striker's suitors, who have no desire to pay the player's entire enormous salary and serve as a springboard for Barça. For the moment, this file is therefore at an impasse.
