Real Madrid have kicked off their transfer window with a bang. In just a few days, the Merengues have announced the signings of two key players, with the arrivals of Dean Huijsen and Trent-Alexander Arnold. Another player, still in defense, seemed very close to joining the Spanish capital: Álvaro Carreras . But the left-back still hasn't donned the white shirt. And the Benfica president has spoken out on the matter.
Interviewed after Portugal's fine 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, Lisbon boss Rui Costa explained that no Madrid offer had yet arrived on his desk: " Let them make us an offer. None have arrived so far. If they do, we'll see what happens. Now is not the time and it won't be until the end of the tournament and our participation. Until then, there will be nothing to say. Carreras is here with us ." We will therefore have to wait a little longer to see the left-back step onto the Bernabéu pitch.
