PSG ordered to pay nearly €1.3 million to Adrien Rabiot

The divorce between Adrien Rabiot and Paris Saint-Germain is definitively consummated. Having spent time with the capital club between 2010 and 2019, the Olympique de Marseille midfielder has never forgiven the Rouge et Bleu for shelving him because he refused to extend his contract. Having left for Juventus on a free, Rabiot then launched a legal battle with PSG.

As a reminder, the capital club had suspended him for disciplinary reasons. And that's not all, since Paris had also decided to confiscate the player's ethics bonus. This treatment was logically denounced by the player, whose only offense had been not wanting to sign an extension. This Thursday, L'Équipe announced that the Rabiot clan has just obtained a significant legal victory.

6 years of battle

The daily newspaper reports that the Paris Court of Appeal has just ordered PSG to pay the player a portion of the wages he was deducted. In addition, the capital club will have to pay the Marseille player €10,000 in damages due to his dismissal. In total, the newspaper specifies that PSG will have to sign a check for nearly €1.3 million to Adrien Rabiot. While already fighting Kylian Mbappé to avoid paying the €55 million demanded by the Bondy player, Paris has just lost a battle.

" This is an important decision in terms of principles after six years of waiting. The abusive sanctions that Adrien had suffered have been annulled by the court. (…) The court rightly considered that PSG had committed an abuse of power (…) by removing Adrien from the first team. If participation in a match depends on the club's management power, Adrien's situation was completely different since he was removed from the field for 7 months without valid reason (…) Adrien is first and foremost a football lover and his right to play was withdrawn without valid reasons, running the risk of destroying years of work ," said the player's lawyer, Romuald Palao.
