Club World Cup: Chelsea sweeps away Esperance Tunis, Los Angeles holds Flamengo to a draw

The Club World Cup Round of 16 is just around the corner. Last night, the Group D teams played their third and final group match. No big surprises in the final standings, except for Flamengo , who managed to take the lead. The first match pitted Esperance Tunis against Chelsea . Almost certain to qualify, since only a big victory for the Tunisians would have eliminated them, the Blues controlled their subject without the slightest difficulty. However, it took until the first-half stoppage time to see the net tremble. Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring just before the break (45th + 3), before being imitated by Liam Delap (45th + 5), allowing the Londoners to approach the second half calmly. At the end of a second period of sterile English domination, Tyrique George completed the success for Enzo Maresca's players, once again in added time (90th + 7).

In the other match, Los Angeles took on Flamengo. A few days after beating Chelsea, the Brazilians failed to finish this group stage with three wins. The Americans even thought they had won, with a late goal from Denis Bouanga (84th minute). But Hugo Lloris and Olivier's teammates were quickly pegged back, as Wallace Yan equalized shortly after (86th minute). Flamengo, however, remain leaders after this draw, and will therefore face Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Chelsea, meanwhile, will take on Benfica.
