Barça: Russian club gives money for Nico Williams' transfer

Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg recently donated — via the TikTok platform — a sum in support of FC Barcelona to help pay Nico Williams ' release clause (set at around €58 million) and help the Catalan club complete his transfer, at a time when an agreement with the player exists around a 6-year contract. In its official communications, Zenit justified this gesture by recalling a symbolic debt to Barça: "you gave us Malcom, happy to help you" , in reference to the Brazilian striker who left Barcelona in 2019 to join Saint Petersburg.

From a sporting perspective, this intervention has no direct impact on Barça's legal obligation: Athletic Bilbao is demanding full payment of Williams's clause, and the Catalan club is working on a payment schedule, according to media reports, but the sum must be paid in full to finalize the transfer. Zenit's initiative remains primarily a seemingly symbolic gesture, useful for strengthening communication around the file, but does not change Barça's real financial constraints against Bilbao.
