Champions League: Luis Enrique's blunt response to the superiority of English and Spanish clubs

Speaking at a press conference after PSG's 5-3 Champions League victory against Tottenham , Luis Enrique was asked about a debate that regularly stirs European football: the supposed superiority of Premier League and La Liga clubs over the rest of the continent. The PSG coach initially sidestepped the question with humor: " I don't know, I'm not answering… " before reiterating his rejection of any hasty generalizations. For him, it is far too early to establish a clear hierarchy among European leagues.

Luis Enrique then emphasized that the sporting truth would be revealed "in March ," when the Champions League knockout stages truly began. In other words, the Spanish manager maintains that every season brings its share of surprises and that the competitiveness of teams depends more on their current form than on the prestige of a particular league. As a reminder, PSG (the French team) eliminated Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal last year, before defeating Barcelona and then Tottenham this season.
